Reliving Childhood
Having a kid is a surefire way to turn even the most mundane and uninteresting things in life absolutely exciting. I can't tell you how many steps I've gone up and down with Jack, how many slides we have gone down.
It was Jack who took me from out from the safety of the crowded dry shelter that all the Germans in Dresden were hiding under as it was pouring rain. There was the great opportunist just pulling at my pants getting me to go to play in a perfect and prestine puddle. Untouched by man! Jack and I took to the streets and the Germans roared with laughter and disbelief as Jack and I danced in the puddles soaked to the bone. What was meant to be droll and drizzly became insanely fun. Jack was dancing, jumping, and slapping the puddle and then PLOP...he sat right down in it. That was too much, the crowd went wild!!
And so it is with Jack on a daily basis. Whether he is flirting with old women while he is behind me in the carrier (oh...he does that a lot!) or just keeping things fresh with a good slap to the face, he is anything but boring. He is my little buddy and he makes it fun to be a Dad.
Sounds become more vivid, life seems to have a little more color, and I have found time slowly slipping back when I'm with him.
There are times that I find myself screaming with joy or laughing so hard I forget everything around me.
Yup...that's what it's all about. And at the end of the day when he is asleep and cuddling up with Jenn or on rare occasions, myself, he is just the most peaceful little dude around.
