Birthdays and Bumps

Tuesday was my husband's birthday. Out of complete respect and consideration for his wish to keep it on the down low and not make a big deal of it, I posted the following on Facebook.

"As you may or may not know, today is Juan Clayton Whiting's birthday and as he doesn't like to be boastful about it, I will be! If you find yourself with a few seconds to spare it would be awesome to flood his inbox with happy birthday wishes! You can text him here --- 801-830-9906"

Wonderfully, several people responded and he had the most recognized birthday - from strangers - than ever before. Even his employer found out! I get this message from the man.

Juan whiting: I’ll make you a deal

Jenn Whiting: what's this?

Juan whiting: I will embrace my birthday if you will embrace your pregnancy and your bump

Jenn Whiting: DEAL DONE and DONE

Juan whiting: I’m not just saying accepting it, I mean LOVE BEING PREGNANT

Jenn Whiting: OK fair game, done

Juan whiting: OK, then this is my day

I continued cheerily making plans of what to do, telling surprising my husband what to do with plans and really just having a good night.

To do:
2:00 - pick up the car and house decorations
2:30 - decorate the house
3:00 - Pick up Juan
4:00 - Bike ride
7:00 Dinner at Mountain West Burrito
8:00 Mac and Nelson coming over for ice cream

Truly it was a wonderful day.

Wednesday wasn't so good. We both got up late, which was just lovely, but I couldn't find anything to wear that I felt cute in. My tummy IS more than a bump and my whole body seemed to have changed overnight. To say the least I felt like a frumpy blob. Throughout the day I felt discouraged, and honesty upset about the clothes situation and my changing body. By the time I picked up Juan from work I was fighting back tears and asked if he would drive us home. At home I wrote a note to Juan telling him I needed his help, and that I was feeling worthless. Then I just broke down and sobbed in the kitchen. My sweet husband took me up in his arms and held me until I'd listen to him. He told me all the different reasons why I meant something to him. Why he loved me and even offered to take me out to dinner. (which is huge cause my husband isn't the biggest fan of going out). He really makes a difference to me. It isn't that he can control the way I think of myself, but he CAN remind me what is important and why we are together. I love him so much. Dinner was fun, getting dressed up with him was encouraging and by the end of the night I felt much better. I'm so lucky to have such a supporting husband and team mate.

Here's to both of us embracing life.
